Before contacting us, please consider the following.

Check it's not an emergency.

If you have any of these, call 111 or 999 for urgent medical help, as your request will not be seen immediately.

  • Crushing chest pain and tightness
  • New drooping on one side of the face, slurred speech, difficulty raising your arms, weakness, or numbness on one side of your body.
  • Severe difficulty breathing
  • Heavy bleeding that won't stop
  • Severe injuries
  • Feeling suicidal, wanting to harm yourself, or others.

Appointments - Our system explained

  • Call the surgery from 8 am for same-day appointment requests
  • Patients can also call the surgery throughout the day for nurse-only appointment requests
  • Pre-bookable appointments are available with the Pharmacist.

Call the Surgery on  01639 813868

  • We will ask you why you need an appointment and sometimes direct you to an alternative healthcare practitioner – a pharmacist, dentist, optician, or other local service.
Children 16 years and younger presenting with an acute issue will be assessed on the same day.

How we deliver care at Riverside Surgery

Our phones lives are open from 08:00 until 18:30 and reception takes calls throughout the day.

The front desk will be manned from 08:30 am.

  • Please note, that if you are offered a telephone appointment, GPs will attempt to call you twice. If the call has been missed after the second attempt, you will NOT be offered a further telephone call for that day and will need to call back the next working day to book another appointment.
  • We will try our best to offer an appointment with a preferred Clinician but on occasions, this may not be possible due to capacity or annual leave.

HOME VISITS

A Home Visit is provided when a patient is housebound and unable to attend the surgery, or a resident in a care/nursing home, is too unwell to attend the surgery.

  • If you think you qualify for a home visit, please ring before 10:30 am.
  • All visit requests will be medically assessed to check if appropriate.

OUT OF HOURS

  • Should you need access to a doctor outside of surgery hours, please call NHS 111
